I was looking at photographs with my three-year-old girl. They were pictures of her mother when she was a child. Her mother’s childhood features look very much like my daughter’s, and she thought the photos where of herself. When I came to a picture of her mother at age twelve, my three year old child said, “Hey daddy, that’s me all growed up!” (grown misspelled for effect)
To follow Christ means to pattern our lives after Him. When reading about Jesus in the Bible, we are actually seeing a picture of what God wants us to be. Jesus said, “whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:4).
Children are humble, innocent, and teachable. The simple wisdom of my three-year-old reminds me to keep my eyes on Jesus. “Hey daddy, that’s me all growed up!” |
