The Bible says, “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus [Christ] and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
But what does Lordship mean? Webster’s dictionary says “one possessing supreme power and authority.” If you get a job and the boss tells you what to do, but you repeatedly ignore him, chances are you will be fired. The boss can only be boss, if you willingly submit to his authority.
The Bible says, “Even the demons believe …” (James 2:19). Therefore, true Christians do not just believe, they obey. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). Attending church, reading the Bible, and building friendships with other believers is a good start to making Jesus Lord. |
